Join us for a night where we combine a fantastic art exhibition with the tunes of jazz. Alongside the music, the evening features an exhibition by Wilson Malakkaran, whose paintings are created on reused paper—bakery bags, food wrappers, and everyday materials already marked by time. This practice stems from a childhood habit taught by his mother: covering schoolbooks with recycled paper, a gesture of care that became central to his artistic language.
Malakkaran’s works reveal a dialogue with the material itself: stained, fragile, sometimes resistant, yet transformed through dense layers of acrylic and pigment that turn discarded surfaces into luminous, architectural textures. His use of color draws from the textile traditions of his home, especially the hues of his mother’s saris—an intimate, domestic form of knowledge rather than formal training.
The exhibition celebrates repair over production, showing how reuse becomes a creative act. In Malakkaran’s hands, what the market considers waste becomes the foundation for new meaning—a meditation on attention, memory, and the hidden richness of the everyday
