In honor of the two recently passed away artists Robert Redford and Claudia Cardinale Supernova will show the two iconic movies “The Sting” and “Il gattopardo” followed by a summary of each movie.
The Sting
Two con men in 1930s Chicago, Johnny Hooker and veteran grifter Henry Gondorff, team up to avenge their friend’s murder by orchestrating an elaborate “long con” against powerful crime boss Doyle Lonnegan. They set up a fake betting operation, drawing Lonnegan into a high-stakes scam. The film is famous for its twists, period style, and ragtime soundtrack.
Il Gattopardo
The novel, set in Sicily during the Italian unification of the 1860s, follows Prince Fabrizio Salina, a proud yet melancholy aristocrat witnessing the decline of his family’s power and the rise of a new social order. Through his reflections, family tensions, and the marriage of his beloved nephew Tancredi to the ambitious daughter of a wealthy bourgeois, the story explores themes of change, decay, and adaptation.
