Supernova invites you to see “Mojo’q che b’ixan ri ixkanulab’ / Antes de que los volcanes canten / Before the Volcanoes Sing together with the director Clarissa Tossin and Chrissie Iles who will be presenting the film.
Clarissa Tossin works across moving-image, installation, sculpture, and collaborative research. Her practice is deeply engaged with ecological thinking and geographies defined by systems of colonization and extraction.
Chrissie Iles is a British-American curator, art critic and art historian. She currently serves as the Anne & Joel Ehrenkranz curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
The film
A 2022 film by Clarissa Tossin that explores the ability of Mayan cultural assets, particularly wind instruments, to give voice to indigenous knowledge systems.
